Fun on the 4th

This year we spent the 4th of July at the lake.  I think everyone had a good time, I know I did!

I fed the crowd 3 Sweet As Pie Cooking Club selections.  Yes, 3, yay!

The silly college kids got in on the hamburger patting.  Done.  Ready for the grill!  We left some with no cheese for the purists like the Bassman, some topped with cheddar cheese, and some enjoyed Swiss, mushrooms and onions.  My stepdaughter and I like a "fancy" burger every now and then.

Not pictured:  The Best Macaroni Salad Ever.   Oh well, on days like today I might have missed a photo opportunity or two!   Potato chips would have been much easier, but today I was glad to have something instead of chips to go with the burgers since everyone would be so hungry from playing outside.  It was easy to prepare and has a different taste with the spicy pickles and roasted red peppers.  Although it was good, I must disagree with the name.  I think the "best macaroni salad ever" is one with fresh tomatoes and bell pepper.  Yum!

Have you ever had a Cherry Limeade from Sonic?  No?  Or maybe the Sonic with it's half price happy hour is 30 minutes away and whose gonna drive that far just to get a cherry limeade?

Do this Cherry Limeade instead.   Just have extra cherries to put on top.  It's so easy and refreshing!

Then there's Sangria.  It was strong, but good!  It was even better the next day after all the flavors combined together.   Some thought it was strong and added some cherry limeade to it.  You could also add some ginger ale or soda water to it.  That would work if you wanted to cut the calories, too.

Our favorite fruits in the sangria were the apples and pineapple.   Maybe next time we'll cut the grapes in half.

This is the perfect container for the sangria to chill in the frig.

Kayaking was fun even though the water was a little rough.  Ha ha, one of them made it into the water with the tag still on!

There was good intentions on getting ahead on the lit assignment for the week, but I don't think this book ever made it out of the bag!

Now that we're all stuffed, let the fireworks begin!

I am thankful for the time I have with my family and friends and hope to never take this for granted!
